Essentials Configuration

You can configure Essentials settings at various levels depending on the level you select in the Sidebar:

Default Essentials Settings

You can select settings that affect all the instances of Essentials being monitored by Analytics. At this level, you can set collection intervals, alarms, site and service settings that affect all the sites or services that Analytics is monitoring.

Essentials Collection Interval Settings

To change the default settings for all Essential instances, in Configuration, select Geocortex Essentials in the Sidebar:

You can override the default settings for the alarms that affect all Essentials instances and configure them to suite your own system.

Default Site Settings - Collection Interval

You can change the Collection Interval for all the Sites in all Essentials instances:

Default Service Settings

You can change the Collection Interval for services that are found in ArcGIS Servers, Geocortex Essentials instances, ArcGIS Online, or Portal for ArcGIS instances. These settings are available under each respective resources’ default settings configuration. When you change the settings in any of these locations, it changes the settings for all services, no matter how they were found or are referenced in Analytics.

On the Service Settings tab, the following options are available:

Specific Essentials Instance Settings

At the Essentials Instance level, you can set how often data and log information about this instance of Essentials is collected and configure alarms that apply to a single Essentials instance. You can also add the credentials required to access this Essentials if it is secured using Windows Authentication. If you use other security, you do not need to specify the credentials in order to monitor Essentials.

Enable or Disable Monitoring

You can enable or disable monitoring of an Essentials instance with the following procedure. When monitoring is disabled, Analytics will stop collecting information and stop checking alarms for this Essentials instance. This will also disable monitoring of this Essentials instance’s sites and applications. Previously collected information can still be viewed in Analytics when monitoring is disabled.

To enable or disable monitoring an Essentials instance:

  1. In Configuration, click Geocortex Essentials.

  2. Click the name of the Essentials instance for which you want to enable or disable monitoring.

  3. Click at the top right.

Remove an Essentials Instance

When you remove an Essentials instance, it no longer appears in Analytics and its collected information is no longer accessible. Doing so also removes its Sites and Applications from Analytics.

If the server hosting the Essentials instance has an Analytics Agent installed, uninstalling the Agent removes the Essentials instance from Analytics and all other resources found on that server; this is the preferred method to remove an Essentials instance found via an Agent. If the server is already decommissioned, you can remove the Essentials instance using the following method.

If the server hosing the Essentials instance has an Analytics Agent installed and the Essentials instance is removed using the following method without the Agent being uninstalled, the Essentials instance will reappear in Analytics.

To remove an Essentials instance:

  1. In Configuration, click Geocortex Essentials.

  2. Click the name of the Essentials instance you want to remove.

  3. Click at the top right.

  4. Click OK.

You can override the default settings and configure alarms specifically for a particular Essentials instance.

At the site level, you can set the collection interval for one particular site, set alarms on one specific site as well as set the collection interval and alarms for each specific service within that site. Alarms for Essentials data can be set on for both site and services settings.

On the Alarms tab, you can set alarms that apply to this particular Essentials Site or enable an ArcGIS Service referenced by the Site and configure alarms for it.
