This documentation is for VertiGIS Studio Printing, a standalone product in the new generation of VertiGIS Studio products. In Geocortex Essentials, the printing capability was provided by Geocortex Essentials Reporting. In the new generation of VertiGIS Studio products, this capability has been given its own product, VertiGIS Studio Printing. VertiGIS Studio Printing addresses similar needs to the existing capabilities offered by Geocortex Essentials Reporting: the ability to create print maps that display a snapshot from a user's session in your web application. However, there are significant differences between Geocortex Essentials Reporting and VertiGIS Studio Printing:
▪VertiGIS Studio Printing is offered as a standalone product. You do not need any other VertiGIS Studio products (like Geocortex Essentials) to use Printing. If you have Geocortex Essentials, you can use Printing with Essentials and its companion products, the HTML5 Viewer and the Geocortex Mobile App Framework.
▪VertiGIS Studio Printing is available as a service (SaaS), so there's nothing to install. Alternatively, you can install VertiGIS Studio Printing on premises and use it with your Portal for ArcGIS installation.
▪Print templates in VertiGIS Studio Printing are configured in a web-based designer. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, print templates are built in a desktop-based designer.
▪Print templates in VertiGIS Studio Printing are saved as items in Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, print templates are saved as .rpx files on disk.
▪In addition to running in Geocortex HTML5 viewers (with or without the Geocortex Mobile App Framework), Printing print templates run in Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS apps.
▪VertiGIS Studio Printing integrates with ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS. You need an ArcGIS account to save and share print templates. You can open a print item in ArcGIS directly from VertiGIS Studio Print Designer.
▪Print Designer contains a Preview feature that allows you to test your configuration as you build your print map. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, print map configuration can only be tested in the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5.
▪All print maps in VertiGIS Studio Printing run asynchronously by default. Print templates in Geocortex Essentials Reporting require additional configuration to run asynchronously.
▪Print templates in VertiGIS Studio Printing are secured using ArcGIS identities. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, site specific permissions must be applied to secure a print template.
