The Overview Map component displays the current extent of the map within the context of a larger area. It helps orient your user on the overall map, especially when they zoom in to a particular location.
The overview map is a separately configured web map, and you can determine its complexity and extent.
To create the area of your overview map:
1.In the Overview Map settings, navigate to Map Settings.
2.Click Select.
The Select Item window opens.
3.Locate and select the map you are currently using for your web map.
You can configure a separate web map that has unique symbology that is the area that you're interested in for your overview map covering.
4.Click Select.
5.Customize the symbol color in the Symbology Settings. This is the color of the symbol that indicates the user's location on the overview map.
The zoom scale determines whether the user's location is indicated by a point or a rectangle.
When your user zooms in on the web map, they can see where they are on the overview map.
