This release of VertiGIS Studio Desktop delivers a major overhaul to printing workflows, editing operations, application configuration, and composite labeling. Version 2.0 is built for ArcGIS Pro 3.5+ (also tested on ArcGIS Pro 3.6) and introduces automated content management for Map Books, sophisticated dimensioning tools, and a centralized user experience.

New Features and UX Improvements

•Automated Map Book and Layout Package Management: The system now automatically distinguishes between Map Books and standard Layout Packages via smart Portal tagging [340638]. Correct thumbnails are also automatically assigned upon creation, improving visual clarity in the Layout browser. [341592]

•Optimized Print Area Selection: We significantly improved the usability of the Print Area Selection tool for Range and Time Series. Range and Time settings have been split into discrete controls for Min-Max and Current Extent to prevent ambiguity. Known Issues

New Features

We are introducing several powerful enhancements to Studio Desktop’s Toolkit and Workflow tools, designed to streamline user interaction, extend functionality, and improve cross-platform integration.

•To streamline advanced dimension creation, we added a chain functionality also for Simple Aligned Dimensions, allowing users to generate multiple connected Simple Aligned Dimensions in one seamless process. Instead of placing each segment separately, users can now create a continuous chain of Simple Aligned Dimensions with fewer clicks, significantly speeding up specific dimensioning tasks. [315049]

•To improve usability, we optimized the logic behind the Dimension Tool preselection dropdown, making it context-aware based on selection behavior. This change helps users find the right features in the map faster and with greater precision, improving task flow and tool efficiency. [319093]

•Users can now define both minimum and maximum abscissa length tolerances in Orthogonal Dimensions and activate them independently or together. This improvement provides greater control over abscissa creation and allows for more flexible configuration depending on the project context. [320696]

•To reduce the chance of errors, we’ve added a visual indicator in the map when abscissa lengths exceed defined tolerances during Orthogonal Dimensioning. This proactive feedback supports better quality assurance in drawings and prevents invalid dimension placements before clicking. [320694]

•We’ve expanded Dimension text editing capabilities to include standard Esri dimension feature texts beside the Studio Desktop parameterized dimension feature texts. •For users working across Studio Web, Mobile, and Desktop, we now allow query extraction from Layer Preset Profiles created in Studio Desktop. Known Issues

Installation

Studio Desktop cannot be installed if ArcGIS Pro has been set up only for the current user (CURRENT_USER). The installer expects ArcGIS Pro to be installed for all users (LOCAL_MACHINE). To install Studio Desktop successfully, reinstall ArcGIS Pro for all users (LOCAL_MACHINE) and then run the Studio Desktop installer again.

Studio Printing

•The local Printing Toolbox is not yet supported in ArcGIS Pro 3.4 but remains fully functional with ArcGIS Pro 3.3. Printing via a GPService (Description of how to install it: Printing Help - VertiGIS Studio Printing Engine) is available as a workaround, and support for ArcGIS Pro 3.4 is planned for an upcoming update.

•Attribute tables are not supported for Time and Range Series printing.

Studio Toolkit

•In the Studio Projects editing tool, when no text is entered in the search field of Pro Packages, Web Maps, and Map Displays, only user-owned items are displayed. Text-based searches work correctly for all items.

•The Result List is not designed to work with multiple maps.

•Limited functionality in the Attribute Form tool when switching between multiple maps, which may cause inconsistent behavior.

New Features

General

•We introduced several powerful enhancements to Studio Desktop’s Dimensioning tools, designed to save users clicks and to accelerate everyday workflows. This update brings new ways to create, manage, and customize dimensions with greater efficiency.

•To streamline dimension creation, we have added a chain functionality for Simple Aligned Dimensions, allowing users to generate multiple connected Simple Aligned Dimensions in one seamless process. Instead of placing each segment separately, users can now create a continuous chain of aligned dimensions with fewer clicks, significantly speeding up drafting and annotation tasks [315050].

•For dimensioning processes requiring radial measurements, Polar Dimensions enable users to create multiple dimensions from a single starting point. This enhancement is particularly useful when measuring distances from a fixed reference location, reducing manual effort and ensuring consistency across all dimensions [315064].

•We have also introduced Batch Dimensioning for lines and polygons, which lets users apply aligned simple dimensions to selected straight lines and polygon segments with a single action. This tool automates the process by extracting segment lengths and generating dimensions in bulk [312577].

•To improve precision, users can now define a custom tolerance from the abscissa when creating ordinates. This added flexibility ensures that ordinate dimensions adhere to specific spacing requirements [313707].

•To enhance usability, we’ve improved the input table for Orthogonal Dimensions, enabling faster keyboard-based entry for precise value definitions. This improvement significantly accelerates workflows for users working extensively with keyboard entries [312716].

•We have updated the icons for all dimensioning tools, providing a more intuitive and visually refined experience. These refreshed icons make it easier to navigate the toolset and distinguish between different dimensioning options at a glance [315339].

Installation

Studio Desktop cannot be installed if ArcGIS Pro has been set up only for the current user (CURRENT_USER). The installer expects ArcGIS Pro to be installed for all users (LOCAL_MACHINE). To install Studio Desktop successfully, reinstall ArcGIS Pro for all users (LOCAL_MACHINE) and then run the Studio Desktop installer again.

Studio Toolkit

The Calculate Simple Aligned Dimensions tool currently only works for straight line segments. Arc segments are not supported and will not be dimensioned when using this tool.

Known Issues

Studio Printing

•The local Printing Toolbox is not yet supported in ArcGIS Pro 3.4 but remains fully functional with ArcGIS Pro 3.3. Printing via a GPService (Description of how to install it: Printing Help - VertiGIS Studio Printing Engine) is available as a workaround, and support for ArcGIS Pro 3.4 is planned for an upcoming update.

•Attribute tables are not supported for Time and Range Series printing.

Studio Toolkit

•In the Studio Projects editing tool, when no text is entered in the search field of Pro Packages, Web Maps, and Map Displays, only user-owned items are displayed. Text-based searches work correctly for all items.

•The Result List is not designed to work with multiple maps.

•Limited functionality in the Attribute Form tool when switching between multiple maps, which may cause inconsistent behavior.
