This documentation is for VertiGIS Studio Reporting, a standalone product in the new generation of VertiGIS Studio products. VertiGIS Studio Reporting addresses similar needs to the existing capabilities offered by Geocortex Essentials Reporting: the ability to create reports that include data from a user's session in your web application. However, there are significant differences between VertiGIS Studio Reporting and Geocortex Essentials Reporting:
▪VertiGIS Studio Reporting is offered as a standalone product. You do not need any other VertiGIS Studio products (like Geocortex Essentials) to use Reporting. If you have Geocortex Essentials, you can use Reporting with Essentials and its companion products, the HTML5 Viewer and the Geocortex Mobile App Framework.
▪VertiGIS Studio Reporting is available as a service (SaaS), so there's nothing to install. Alternatively, you can install VertiGIS Studio Reporting on premises and use it with your Portal for ArcGIS installation.
▪Reports in VertiGIS Studio Reporting are configured in a web-based designer. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, reports are built in a desktop-based designer.
▪Reports in VertiGIS Studio Reporting are saved as items in Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, reports are saved as .rpx files on disk.
▪In addition to running in Geocortex HTML5 viewers (with or without the Geocortex Mobile App Framework), Reporting reports run in Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS apps.
▪VertiGIS Studio Reporting integrates with ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS. You need an ArcGIS account to save and share reports. You can open a report item in ArcGIS directly from VertiGIS Studio Report Designer.
▪In VertiGIS Studio Report Designer, the report data source is defined in the report and is not dependent on the application that the report is run from. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, reports use the layer that the report is added to as the data source.
▪VertiGIS Studio Report Designer contains a Preview feature that allows you to test your configuration as you build your report. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, report configuration can only be tested in the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5.
▪In VertiGIS Studio Reporting, the Feature Picture Box can display a feature using any web map. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, the Feature Map control displays the map service used in the site.
▪In Reporting, related data is defined in the report configuration and is not dependent on site defined relationships.
▪All reports in VertiGIS Studio Reporting run asynchronously by default. Reports in Geocortex Essentials Reporting require additional configuration to run asynchronously.
▪Geocortex Essentials Reporting and VertiGIS Studio Reporting both support scripting, but the underlying object model is different.
▪Reports in VertiGIS Studio Reporting are secured using ArcGIS identities. In Geocortex Essentials Reporting, site specific permissions must be applied to secure a report.
