The Legend component provides a key to define the map features for each layer and explain what certain symbols represent.
The legend shows what is currently visible on the map, so the contents change depending on the scale range. As your user zooms in and out, different features become visible and they appear in the legend.
The legend is not supported for some layer types, as mentioned under Known Limitations in the Esri API Reference.
