Configure Background Location Updates

You can configure the Studio Go application to receive background location updates. This enables the application to continue performing tasks when it is in the background of a user's device or when the device is asleep.

To configure background location updates, you must invoke the following commands via a Run Command activity in VertiGIS Studio Workflow:

• system.enable-background-location-updates

• system.disable-background-location-updates

Running background apps can impact the battery life of the user's device. We recommend you disable background location updates when they are not necessary.

The functions that use background location updates by default are as follows:

• Downloading map areas.

• Downloading MMPKs on startup.

• Using the Start Recording button when the user adds or edits a feature.

System Notifications

System notifications provide information to a user while they are using their Studio Go application.

There is no configuration for system notifications. If you enable the background location updates for the application and the user allows notifications on their device, the user receives the system notifications.
